Celebrating the Father of All Creation – International Sunday

21 June 2026

Key Passages:

  • Psalm 96
  • Isaiah 40:25-31
  • Ephesians 3:14-21
  • Acts 17:22-31
  • Revelation 7: 9-12
  • John 1:1-14

From the very beginning, in the book of Genesis, we learn that God created humanity in His own image. This foundational truth highlights our inherent dignity and the unique relationship we share with our Creator. In Malachi, we find a powerful reminder of our identity: “Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us?” (Malachi 2:10).

When we acknowledge our identity as children of God, we also acknowledge the dignity and worth of every person we encounter. This understanding should inform our actions and attitudes, leading us to love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

In John 1:12, we read, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” This gift of sonship extends to all who seek to follow Christ, entering the kingdom through repentance & acknowledging Christ as Lord & Saviour. Christ reveals God as Father to us, and the power of that Name to & in our lives, whereupon the Holy Spirit confirms this to be true to us personally, affirming us as adopted & fully accepted children of God.

We must not shy away from the exclusive claims, nature & work of Christ as the way to the Father. Paul, in his letters, emphasises that it is through Jesus alone that we can truly know God.

As we look towards the future, we are filled with hope. Psalm 96 calls us to sing a new song to the Lord, declaring His glory among the nations. The promise of God’s ultimate plan for redemption encompasses all tribes and peoples, as revealed in Revelation 7:9-12. This vision compels us to cultivate a community that embraces all, celebrating our differences while remaining united in our shared identity as children of God the Father.

In practical terms, how can we embody this identity and mission? First, we must celebrate our status as God’s children, recognising the inherent dignity in every person. This means honouring one another and treating each person with respect, regardless of their background or beliefs.

Secondly, let us actively demonstrate love within our church community. Simple acts of kindness, genuine listening, and offering help can go a long way in reflecting Christ’s love.

Furthermore, supporting family unity within our church is essential. We are called to be a place of healing, where brokenness is addressed and restoration is sought.

In all that we do, may we remember that we are not just individuals; we are part of a larger family, called to reflect the heart of our Father to a world in need of His love.
